Modelling in London’s Borough High Street Market really wasn’t something I thought I’d be doing this week and yet, such is the random life of Kate, that’s exactly what I did on Thursday. And I loved every minute of it. (Once I’d got over the slight awkwardness to start with.)
I was approached by a company called Splento recently who kindly asked if I’d like a photoshoot with them and it’s one of those things that you never really realise you want until you’re asked. I wasn’t sure what I’d do with the photos, but for me, it was more about the new experience, so I casually replied, “OH MY GOD YES PLEASE!!!” and the arrangements were quickly made. It was very straightforward.
Splento is a company that provides an ever-growing database of specialist, multi-lingual photographers, and they can cover everything from a family shoot to a graduation ceremony, or something more lifestyle focused, which is what I chose. I wanted it to be lighthearted, casual, and as relaxed as possible, and I think that definitely came across in the photos.
I met Diana at London Bridge and we had just over an hour together. She was lovely, really warm and friendly, knowledgeable and directed me so that we could get just the right shot. We covered six or seven different locations in and around the market, but you get to choose where to have the shoot of course … I was meeting friends nearby later that night so it made sense to meet there.
I decided to dress casually and took a couple of changes of tops. I brought heels but they just didn’t really fit the shoot in the end, so I didn’t bother. Same with jewellery. Maybe if I’d had more time I could have experimented more but you have to factor in the time it takes to nip into pub toilets to change!
Anyway, let me show you some of the results!
I’m so delighted with them, I really am. There were a few shots that didn’t make the cut but that’s just because of my own neuroses, as opposed to anything Diana did. She was great. I felt that some of the photos of me looked a little awkward, especially when I was asked to smile a lot, but that’s because it WAS a little awkward, at least to start with … I was in the middle of London! But as the shoot went on, I warmed up and by the end (the shots in the blue top and black jacket), I was swishing my hair as if I was in an actual L’Oreal commercial! It also helped that Professor Green walked past and I was a little swoony!
I would highly recommend Splento and in fact, I think I may do another shoot with them perhaps in six months’ time, and perhaps something a little dressier/sexier. Could become my new Tinder profile photo!
Prices start from £69 for one hour, but do factor in extra costs for prints etc. although online prints are included in the price, but I do have a discount code you can use to get 10% discount if you wanted to try them out yourself – just use the code ‘WITWITWOO17’.
