gin print

You may have seen this post about back-to-school goodies I chose for Dexter from Zazzle (and I even snuck some goodies in there for me too), but this selection is for the house and I thought you might like to see what I chose.

It’s now been two months since we moved into this house and as I mentioned before, until I can change the big things (curtains, pink carpets and walls) I am trying to find ways so that the little things will make a big difference.

One of the things I have wanted to do for a long time is have a wall of prints above my sofa. It’s a very Pinteresty thing to do (sorrynotsorry), but I still wanted to give it a go. So the first things I chose from Zazzle were a selection of different pictures. I had already bought lots of frames from IKEA, M&S and Matalan and wanted to find prints that were perhaps a little different and couldn’t be found on the High Street.

The first print is this retro New York picture. Cool isn’t it? You can order it in pretty much in any size you want but as I mentioned previously, I am rubbish at working out what size I need and if you look closely, it doesn’t quite match up in the frame. However, with the use of a couple of bits of Sellotape and white backing paper, it looks alright. Not perfect, but alright.

Next up is this gorgeous pink, gold and aqua print. This turned out to be about twice as big as I thought it would be (again, I really need to invest in a tape measure,) but I really like the colours and I haven’t seen anything like it before so if you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different to what you might find on the High Street, then it would be worth having a look on Zazzle’s site. It turns out I also need to buy a massive photo frame!

I’m always looking for inspiration to exercise … aren’t we all? So that’s the thinking behind this picture. My plan is that every time I walk past it (on my way to the sofa/fridge,) I will go out on my bike instead. It hasn’t worked yet. But it might one day. (Or not.)

I absolutely love this picture. The colours … the ‘motivational’ quote … I think it’s great! I have put it in a beautiful white frame I got in M&S in the sale for £7 (it was £25,) and every time I walk past it it makes me smile, which I think photos and prints most definitely should do. It’s currently on my side table next to my sofa, but once I can work out how to put a hook on it, it will also go on the back wall.

Being an English literature graduate, I just had to choose this bag! I probably have 3,000 canvas bags like this now mind you, but this one makes me happy … as much as a canvas tote bag can. (Yes, I know I need to get a life.)

wall of prints

So this is how the wall looks at the moment – it’s a definite work in progress, but as each month passes, this house feels more like home.  It’s really hard as a tenant though to shake off the feeling that you could be asked to leave at any moment (with the requisite 2 months’ notice,) but I try not to let that bother me too much and just take each day as it comes. I hope we can stay here for the foreseeable, but time will tell I guess.

bespoke mugs

And finally, my fellow freelancers will understand this next choice … MUGS! I live off coffee when I’m working from home and these caught my eye. The first one is a pre-made geometric patterned mug, the second one I actually got for Dexter, which says: “Ways to die: Steal my food,” and the third one is a bespoke one using the header from my blog. I just uploaded the photo, it showed me a preview and it was as simple as that.

I hate to say the C word, but with Christmas not that far away, it’s a great site for presents. Oh, and my birthday is this month … just saying.
