I don’t profess to be a beauty blogger but I do like treating myself now and again to something that might catch my eye when I’m out – usually lipsticks (here’s a video of my 3 current favourite lipsticks) or, a recent find, something from Bare Minerals.

I’ve known about a couple of companies that allow you to subscribe to them on a monthly basis and then they’ll send you a selection of sample sized beauty products each month but to be honest, I just saw it as a bit of an extravagance, and one I couldn’t afford.

That was …. until Birchbox got in touch of course!

So, the deal with Birchbox is this:

  1. Fill in your beauty profile online
  2. Follow expert advice on each product
  3. Buy the full sized product on the Birchbox site, earning points for each purchase.

Or you can, of course, skip 2. and 3. and just have 4-5 luxe sample size beauty products sent each month.

The different subscription options are as follows:

  • Monthly Recurring Subscription

    £10 / month+ £2.95 P&P per month
    • 5 luxe beauty samples
    • Cancel at any time
    • No risk – money back guarantee!*
    • Earn 12 reward points per month**
    • First box: October 2014
  • 6-Month Subscription

    £50+ £2.95 P&P per month
    • Save £10, that’s 1 box for free!
    • Earn 67 reward points**
    • Auto-renewal Subscription
    • First box: October 2014
  • Yearly Subscription

    £90+ £2.95 P&P per month
    • Save £30, that’s 3 boxes for free
    • Earn 125 reward points**
    • Auto-renewal Subscription

Personally speaking, as someone who has to watch their pennies, I think this is really good value.  I’ve had a few boxes sent to me now and so I can confirm that the quality of the products remains high each month, there is always a good variation … ie. a lip product, a hair product, a non-beauty product (photo holder/pen etc.), something for your eyes … and invariably, they are brands I would never normally try.  For example, this month, my box contains a Cindy Crawford Lip Balm – I never knew she even had a beauty range.  So if you like trying out different brands, this is perfect.

Plus, who doesn’t like getting a surprise in the mail each month?

So this is what I got this month (OCTOBER 2014):

Verdict?  Very impressed.  Good value, great information contained in the box about each product, online beauty expert advice if you need it and well, I just like goodies coming in the mail!

I did an unboxing video of the box I received a couple of months ago and I hope this gives you an idea of the quality of the products, how it’s packaged etc.  Obviously, each month brings you different goodies, but, well, see for yourself ….

Birchbox have been kind enough to offer my readers a fantastic discount, which runs until 6th November, which will give you £5 off!  Just use the promotional code of BBXWITWIT5 when you subscribe.

* As I said above, Birchbox kindly sent me 3 boxes to review.
