Saturday nights, as a single woman, are normally (unfortunately) a very tame affair. We’re talking X Factor and a takeaway with Dexter in autumn/winter and maybe an early evening dinner at the local pub if it’s sunny in summer.
There are times where I may have a date on a Saturday night but they seem to be pretty rare these days. However, I wouldn’t want that to stop me getting dressed up and going out so, last Saturday, I decided Dexter and I would go to Zizzi in Maidstone (my local branch) to spend the voucher we received for having a bad meal at another branch!
I’ve had this skirt for months. It’s been hanging in my wardrobe, peeking out at me when I only ever pick out yet another plain black vest to wear. It’s been BEGGING to be worn but I just haven’t been anywhere to wear it. It’s a lovely mid calf length (but not in a frumpy, ‘Oh Kate looks like her Nan again’ type way) and is very … SWIRLY. Can you believe, it’s another fantastic buy from Sainsburys! I KNOW!
Instead of teaming the skirt with a plain black or white top, I decided to add a pop of colour and wore (for the first time) this lemon/lime (I can’t quite decide) top from … Tescos! Giving away all my secrets here. I wasn’t sure if it worked or not but by this time I was starving so just thought, GO FOR IT! (By the way, the leopard print case on the floor isn’t my handbag, it’s my laptop case!)
I topped the outfit off with a statement necklace from New Look and some old(ish) wedges from New Look too.
As for the make-up, I had been trying to work out where I keep going wrong when trying to use a liquid eyeliner and do a subtle cat’s eye flick … and I think I’ve finally figured it out! What do you think? If you’d like to see me vlog my attempt at doing it, please just let me know.
The lipstick I’m wearing is the Lancome one I mention in this beauty vlog and it’s fast becoming my favourite – think it goes so well with the lemon top!
As for dinner, it was wonderful, if a little pricey, but we did have a great evening out together. You can watch here for a sneak peek at our whole day last Saturday!
