Those in the blogging community will know that this weekend is BritMums Live or, as I like to call it, a weekend away from the kids. As usual, I’m late to the party and have totally missed the Linky and it’s now closed, but hey, I thought I’d do an intro anyway.
So here it is … just a few things about me and BritMums Live.
Name: Kate. Although I’m officially a Kathryn.
Twitter ID: @iamwitwitwoo
Height: 5ft 9” … although I think I’m officially in the ‘shrinking’ decade and could well be 5ft 5″ by the weekend.
Hair: Long, thick, wavy and red. VERY RED!
Eyes: Blue, like the ocean. Or Blu-Tac.
Is this your first blogging conference? No, I’ve pretty much been to them all.
Are you attending both days? Yes, although I have to leave early on Saturday because Dexter is in a school concert. Kids are SO selfish.
What are you most looking forward to at BritMums Live 2014?
I’ve worked for BritMums for the last few years as either a Moderator or just general helper outer … but this year I’ve gone maverick and am going it alone … so I’m really looking forward to just doing what I want! TO HELL WITH THE RULES! There are so many bloggers I’m looking forward to seeing again and I hope I get to talk to some of the newer bloggers … but I may well just sit by the cake table for the day.
What are you wearing?
I actually went shopping today and bought these little beauties! Beautiful aren’t they!? I’ve also bought a cerise floaty vest thing and will probably wear it with an unstructured black jacket and trousers of some sort!
What do you hope to gain from BritMums Live 2014?
A day and a night off from being Mum, a chance to feel a part of a great community (IRL as opposed to online) and hopefully to pick up some vlogging tips for MY NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL!! (Hint, hint. Feel free to subscribe.)
Do you have any tips to pass on to others who may not have been before?
It breaks my heart to read that bloggers are really scared and nervous. I can promise you, as a bit of a veteran, that BritMums live is a really positive experience and everyone is uber uber friendly. I promise you. If you’re a little shy, try and pluck up the courage just to say hello to someone you don’t know … it’s how we all started. As for the sessions, just take a few notes, sit back, and let it all soak in. Don’t put any pressure on yourself to learn everything – take it as a chance to connect.
As Forrest Gump once said … and that’s all I have to say about that. BritMums live will be awesome. Fact.
Oh, one final thing, I’m shocking with remembering who’s who (tis an age thing) so please … if you recognise me, or read my blog, or even if you don’t, if you see me please … come and say hello! I’ve been told I sometimes give off an unapproachable vibe … but that’s just my face. I can’t help it 🙂
