I’ve been lucky enough to go to Camp Bestival a few times now and have always loved it.  Good music, BBQs and chilling with the kids … we’ve even had lots of sunshine, what’s not to like?  I was gutted I couldn’t get to go last year but unfortunately, funds just didn’t permit it.

So I’m absolutely delighted that this year, I’m able to go!!!

I know I may seem a little over-excited, but when you rarely go on holiday … a UK festival IS a big deal and, IMHO, Camp Bestival is THE best festival around.  OK, it’s the ONLY festival I’ve been to … but the fact I keep going back should tell you a lot.

I’ve seen the line-up, together with this year’s circus theme, and a few acts stand out as MUST SEES this year:

Basement Jaxx

I have loved Basement Jaxx (I was going to abbreviate their name then but thought better of it) … for years.  I remember buying their first album, ‘Remedy’, and loving every single song on it – it’s very rare to find albums like that.  In fact, I think most of the songs became my running playlist.  That one time I ran … 6 years ago.  Anyway, I think they’d be great live – very excited.

Laura Mvula

I can’t pronounce her surname, but I’m sure you will all know who she is.  Beautiful, Brit nominee woman who recently had a hit with Green Garden … if you don’t know her, check out this video of awesomeness:

Horrible Histories

We missed out on seeing these guys last year, but I’m glad they’re back.  Trouble is, there is SO much to see and do for the kids that we don’t always get to see what we originally plan to see … but this is at the top of my list for kids stuff.  Whether Dexter likes it or not.

Chas & Dave

What?!  You all love C&D as much as I do, don’t deny it.  #rabbit

I’ll be bringing you more information on the festival the closer we get.  Personally, I’m really toying with the idea of trying out accommodation that’s already pre-pitched (also hoping there’s an option with electricity!) – can’t say I’m a massive fan of the whole ‘erecting a tent on your own’ thing, so I’ll be talking about these options too.

Dexter is very excited to be going back, and is particularly hoping that the Wagamama disco will be back so he can throw some more shapes on the dancefloor/grass.

Festival runs from 31st July – 3rd August 2014
