I’ll just wait a minute until you stop laughing at my Bon Jovi perm.

Ready?

OK.  Today’s blog post is my contribution to Tara’s The Gallery – this week’s theme being ‘Into the Archives.’  This photo is poignant because I had just moved into my first ever house, 22 years ago.  I was 20, about to get married and was sitting on a second hand sofa that someone had kindly donated to us.  It was a particularly gorgeous brown, flowery velour but we were grateful just to have something to sit on.  We felt it matched our black ash furniture beautifully!

Fast forward 22 years and I have now sold this house … thankfully, the brown sofa and perm went years ago.

I look at this photo and see a young, optimistic face.  A young woman with her life ahead of her.  Things haven’t exactly worked out how I thought they would but how can you regret anything when you have two smart, handsome sons?

It’s time to move on.  But I’ll never forget this period of my life.

Fundamentally, I’m still a dreamer and have no doubt that this next chapter of my life will be bloody epic.
