ME AND MY MAGIC CARPET
I’ve been talking about cars a fair bit lately since being involved with the Nissan Leaf electric car challenge (more on that in a later post.) I actually know bugger all about cars.
The one thing I do know, however, is how expensive they are. Can I get an amen?! I especially know this today because my poor baby, aka Blue Lightning (which is kinda ironic,) massively failed it’s MOT.
Still, the garage ‘only’ wants £400 to put it right.
Plus over £120 for six month’s road tax.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t just have £500 spare lying about. I barely have 50p, so quite how I’m supposed to get the car fixed, I don’t know.
Which leaves me with a few choices. Walking or cycling are the obvious choices, but I then considered buying a skateboard but as cool as I believe I am (in my head,) I’m 41 and quite frankly, I’d probably break a hip.
I then remembered one of my favourite TV programmes as a kid, The Phoenix & The Magic Carpet, and decided that actually, I’d just like to ride around on a magic carpet instead. It was pointed out to me that I could then eat cake whilst travelling – bonus!
Skates. Now, I was a champion ice skater in my teens … champion I tell you … but that never really translated to roller skates. I do like the thought of holding on to the back of a car whilst on skates so basically not having to do any exercise at all. DOUBLE BONUS.
Ho hum … guess I gotta bite the bullet and cough up.
What’s the going rate for a kidney these days?
