Yesterday, I was lucky enough to go along to the John Lewis ‘Christmas in July’ event. A preview of what was going to be in the shops in a few months’ time. Yes, I went to something similar last week, but I love Christmas, OK! Besides, I have a bit of a secret crush on John Lewis. It’s my ‘department store of choice’ when I want to sneak away from the kids for half a day, (OK, a day) to potter. Love pottering I do.
So, after thinking the event was held right near Victoria train station and then realising last minute that it was too tube rides away, I arrived fashionably late. Not before Kat at 3 Bedroom Bungalow found me wandering the mean streets of Holborn. “Saw your red hair from across the street,” she explained. See, comes in handy sometimes.
We were greeted by two lovely John Lewis PR ladies who took us on a tour in the underbelly of Victoria House. Everything had been set up for the press launch the day before and there was an expert on hand for each section we came to. We saw previews of various departments including clothes, shoes, Christmas decorations, vodka (oh yessssss,) furnishings and wine racks (that deserves explanation.)
Rather than inundate you with photos of everything, I’m just going to show you a few of my favourite things. I’m like a magpie, so was drawn to anything that sparkled!
LOVE THIS IDEA – A COUNTDOWN FOR ‘HOW MANY MORE SLEEPS’ UNTIL CHRISTMAS
HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THIS!!!? (comes in different colours too)
BEHIND MY BIG HEAD IS AN INGENIUS NEW WINE RACK SYSTEM
DIFFERENT GRADES OF WOOD DEPENDING ON BUDGET, DIFFERENT SIZES TO FIT ALL SPACES!
YOU CAN EVEN HAVE A TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM INSTALLED
SKIG WOULD HAVE LOVED THIS – AN ELECTRONIC, INFLATABLE DALEK!
(£199 so not sure Father Christmas is going to be that generous this year!)
THIS IS WHAT I LOVED THOUGH! MARMALADE VODKA FROM CHASE 🙂
BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES FROM FAB DESIGNERS – PARTICULARLY LOVED THE JEWELLERY FROM FIONA PATTINSON
The quality of my photos doesn’t do the quality of the goods justice but I have to wait until Christmas until I get a proper camera! One for the wish list.
We were treated to a presentation (complete with brownies,) about upcoming toys for Christmas. VTech, Micro Scooters, Paper Jamz, Hungry Caterpillar and traditional wooden toys, were all mentioned. However, I couldn’t get over this one particular toy. I say ‘toy.’ It’s not a toy per se, but it is SO going to make my life a whole lot easier. Check this out:
LEGO ‘SORT & STORE’ – BIT LIKE A LEGO HOOVER – RUN IT OVER A PILE OF MIXED UP LEGO AND IT WILL SORT IT OUT INTO SAME SIZED PIECES! I KNOW!!!!!
I’ll definitely be checking out the new Stratford store when it opens mid-September but until then, I can browse (and buy of course) until my heart’s content online – www.johnlewis.com.
Great morning out – thanks guys.
