Everyone knows it’s Red Nose Day today – aka Comic Relief – aka raising a whole heap of cash for a whole heap of worthy causes, so I wanted to mark the occasion.

I’m not the sort of person who would dress up as a chicken, eat 100 pickled eggs or snog Hugh Grant, but I wanted to do ‘my bit.’ Something.

So …

… we spent 20 minutes deciding which nose to buy ….

… and ended up buying three … and ….

… I baked a cake to sell at the Cake Sale at work …

… and we raised £77!

So, I did a little bit to help today.  We all ‘dressed down’ for school/work and paid for the privilege and sponsored friends at work to do sponsored events.  In the scheme of things, it’s a drop in the ocean (especially when you compare it to Chris Moyles raising £2.4m!) but it’s better than nothing.

It did get me thinking though.  I think it’s really important to sow that philanthropic seed in our children and what better way of doing that than leading by example.  So, what that in mind, I’m going to be announcing a new challenge in the very near future.  For me, a very scary one, but considering what’s going on in the world at the moment, it’s the least I can do.

Watch this space!
